Web Previews

Hey everyone,

When Sqworl launched, it pretty much looked the same as it does now with the exception of web previews.  The original version only showed the URL base image.  So twitter.com looked the same as twitter.com/nprnews.  When Sqworl hit techcrunch.com the number 1 feature request I got was for unique URL previews.  This feature was built, but the original way we rolled it out made sqworl pages load slower than before.

Tonight I pushed an update which will give you the same unique URL previews but with the speed of the original sqworl.com.  This first time you view your sqworl groups, you may see Sqworl running at the same speed as the image is fetched and saved to our server.  Fear not!  Upon a 2nd reload, Sqworl will be quite speedy…like a real squirrel.

As always, if you find any bugs with this update drop me a line via email or twitter.

Techcrunched!

Sqworl.com has been featured on TechCrunch’s Elevator Pitch Friday, and since we have seen some fantastic comments about Sqworl’s current features, as well as some great suggestions as to features Sqworl’s users would like to see.

Myself  (http://twitter.com/calebrown), Shaun Chapman (http://twitter.com/shaunchapman) and Riley Goodside (http://twitter.com/rgoodside) have been working around the clock to polish up Sqworl, and add some requested features.

Check back for more posts about what features and design ideas we’re working on!
