Drag and Drop your Links!

Hey,

Rearranging and organizing your Sqworl links just got a lot easier.  Up until this point, there was no easy way to move your links around, so you were forced to delete the links and add them again in a new order.  That’s a huge pain and the goal of Sqworl is to be a clean, simple and easy way to visually organize your bookmarks. Rearranging your links is now super easy and actually…pretty fun (give it a try!).

Sqworl for the iPhone

If you have an iPhone and want to check some of your Sqworl links on the go, you don’t necessarily want to load the website thumbnails over EDGE or even 3G.  This is why I developed  the mobile version of Sqworl for the iPhone and iPod Touch.  It’s pretty simple, login and navigate through your groups.  I did consider creating an official iPhone application, but for this simple version there are no real advantages over a browser based app.

Note: If you’re already logged into Sqworl in the Mobile Safari Browser and experience redirect errors, simply logout from sqworl.com/home.php before entering http://sqworl.com/m

Sqworl Bookmarklet

The Sqworl Bookmarklet really makes saving links to Sqworl much easier and more convenient.  By simply dragging the bookmarklet to your browser’s toolbar, you can add any website you’re currently on to any Sqworl group you’ve already created, or create a new group on the spot and add the URL directly to the new group.  All of this can happen without leaving your current webpage.

Add the bookmarklet here: http://sqworl.com/bmlet.php

Sqworl API

Developers, Developers, Developers!  Sqworl.com finally has an API which any Sqworl user can use to build their own Sqworl applications.  A Sqworl web application could be built for your website, to display your Sqworl groups, or to auto-submit your new blog entries to Sqworl.  Firefox extensions and desktop applications could be built as well.  The possibilities are quite endless, and the documentation is pretty straightforward .

Twitter and Referrals

A few days ago I added a feature on Sqworl that began to keep track of how many views an individual Sqworl group received. This had been a much requested feature and I decided it was time to launch it. That being said, I wanted to expand on that feature and show users where the views are coming from. Which is exactly what I did, you can now view the web referrals and twitter mentions on each Sqworl group simply by clicking the graph icon at the bottom of the Sqworl group, or from your home page.

Here is a quick screencast to show this new feature in action.

Simple Stats

Hey all, I added simple statistics on your Sqworl groups. Most groups start fresh with 0, but if you were in the top 50 most popular according to my site-wide analytics I manually entered that in for you. This is just the beginning of many new things planned for Sqworl in the coming months. If you have any suggestions, feel free to email me at help@sqworl.com. Thanks!

Shorter Sqworl URLs

Hey all,

Today I finally pushed out the feature that allows Sqworl group URLs to be shorter.

For example, the URL before had to be in this format: http://sqworl.com/?i=bd847a

While the new format allows for simply: http://sqworl.com/bd847a

Of course, the old format is still supported, so all your old bookmarks are fine. This was a much requested feature, and will make posting Sqworl groups to Twitter 3 ever-so precious characters shorter.

Enjoy! If you have any questions or issues with this feature or anything else please feel free to email help@sqworl.com

Thanks!

Today’s Email

Hey All,

I just wanted to update everyone on some changes and new features going on at Sqworl.com.

Just this week I implemented search for Sqworl groups. You can find the search bar at the top left of all Sqworl pages. As this feature is still in beta, I am continuing to tweak the search algorithm.
Ex. http://sqworl.com/s.php?s=blogging

Sqworl also received user pages as an update this week. When viewing a Sqworl group, the creator’s name is now a link at the bottom of the page. Clicking this link will show you all the groups this user has created.
Ex. http://sqworl.com/u.php?user=2

A few smaller updates: Sqworl now has a “Forgot your Password” link on the login page. Account settings have been added to the logged-in user’s home page. Features such as change your email, change your password, and stop recieving sqworl update emails (like this one) can be found there.

I have a few more days of spring break, so if anyone has any feature requests feel free to email them to help@sqworl.com or calebrown@gmail.com and I’ll do what I can.

Thanks!

Caleb Brown

Sqworl Updates

Hey all,

One of the most requested feature requests has been the ability to search through groups sqworl users have already created. So I put together a simple search which you can find at the top left of all sqworl pages.

Here is an example of a sqworl search for blogging:
http://sqworl.com/s.php?s=blogging

I also put together a way to check all the groups a user has created. The idea is that if you find a group you like, you very well may like the other groups this person has created. You can click their username at the bottom of a sqworl group, under the group title. This only works for groups created by a registered user.

Here is a link to my sqworl groups:

I hope you enjoy these updates, as always if you have any questions or comments, feel free to email help@sqworl.com.

Thanks,

Caleb
